Nagar Ajeevika Kendras established under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Urban Livelihood Mission Scheme for poverty eradication for creation of self-employment of urban poor:- The Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana (National Urban Livelihood Mission) scheme, centrally funded and operated by the Uttarakhand Urban Development Department, is implemented in all municipal bodies of Champawat district. Under the scheme, various components are implemented. Under the Social Initiation and Institutional Development component of the scheme, the state’s first Livelihood Centre (CLC) has been established in the Champawat Municipal Council to support the economic and professional development of women self-help groups. This centre provides free marketing space for handmade products produced by self-help group women. Various means are employed to create self-employment for these women. Currently, 20 to 30 women are engaged in crucifix weaving and soft toy manufacturing. These products are being exported to national and international markets for sale through Himalayan Blooms.

For creating self-employment for urban street vendors, 100% beneficiaries were benefited under the PM Swanidhi Yojana:-  Under the ambitious scheme PM Svanidhi Yojana of Hon’ble Prime Minister for creating self-employment for urban Phad businessmen, operated by the centrally funded Urban Development Department, all the Phad businessmen of the city were benefited from PM Svanidhi Yojana by making unprecedented efforts by all the municipal bodies of Champawat district. For this innovative effort, Champawat district was awarded second place by the Urban Development Department of Uttarakhand through the hands of Hon’ble Chief Minister for doing excellent work for the financial year 2023-24. Against the target of 369 given to Champawat district for the year 2023-24, the target of 524 was achieved.

Water coolers/water purifiers were installed in public places within the city area for the use of the general public:- In view of the problem of drinking water in the city area, Nagar Palika Parishad Champawat has installed water coolers/water purifiers for the supply of pure drinking water in public places and various offices and schools of the city so that the general public coming to the city and students in schools and visitors and office workers coming to various public offices can be provided with pure drinking water. A total of 21 water coolers have been installed by the Nagar Palika Parishad in the city area.

To overcome the daily water problem in the city area, solar water hand pumps were installed at various public places in the order of water conservation/water is all wealth:- To solve the water problem in the city, Municipal Council Champawat has installed solar water hand pumps in public places of the city under the Jal Sanchay / Jal Sarvadhan program, due to which the public has got relief from the problem of water supply occurring every day. Till date, a total of 04 solar water hand pumps have been installed by the Municipal Council and the work of installing solar water pumps at 03 other public places is in progress.
